Oil Pulling is an ancient Ayurvedic practice to detoxify the mouth and body.
Oil pulling with coconut oil involves swirling the oil around the mouth and pushing/pulling the oil through your teeth for 5-15 minutes.
During this time, the swishing of the oil draws out toxins & bacteria from within the mouth and the naturally occurring Lauric acid in coconut oil helps to whiten teeth as well as having anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties. The oil is then spat out and with it the toxins and bacteria that have accumulated in the oil are removed.
If 5-15 minutes sounds like a long time simply do oil pulling in the shower in the morning to help pass the time.
WHY COCONUT OIL?
Coconut oil also contains lots of easily digestible fat-soluble vitamins: Vitamin A, D, E and K. Vitamin E is good for the immune system, Vitamin E has strong antioxidant properies for the skin (clear acne) and can provide some protection against UV rays, Vitamin D is good for strong bones and teeth and Vitamin K is good for blood clotting.

- Peppermint & Spearmint essential oils are a strong antiseptic. Both eliminating germs, helping any wounds heal more quickly and soothing to soft tissues like gum tissue.
- Cinnamon essential oil can be used to kill bacteria that cause periodontal disease and ease a toothache due to its antifungal, antibacterial properties.
- Orange essential oil is naturally uplifting, supports a healthy immune system. Lemon essential oil is PH neutral and is a well know remedy for halitosis (bad breath).
